At Public Health, we work hard to educate
people on the many ways to prevent health problems.

As a young person, should you be concerned
about heart disease?

YES!

The food you eat now and the amount of
exercise you have now, while you are young,
may seriously affect your health later.

Tobacco Kills!

When young people use tobacco products, it's easy for them to get hooked. Since it's illegal for youth to purchase and use tobacco products, many adults look the other way and think
there is no problem.

Members of the Partnership for a Tobacco Free Cerro Gordo County have been working to offer smoking cessation classes to youth who have been caught smoking and for those who are ready to quit voluntarily ~ with no punishment for coming forward.

Read about these two new programs that are being offered to local youth:

TAP (Tobacco Awareness Program)

TEG (Tobacco Education group)

Take good care of your body by forming good health habits
while you are young ...

After all, you only
get one chance!

Here are some easy steps you can take:

Do not use tobacco products!

Tobacco is addictive, so it's easier to never get hooked. Stay away from alcohol and other drugs that will only harm your body.

Eat healthy foods!

We all like to have a sweet treat once in a while. And that's OK! But make sure you eat more healthy foods than bad foods. Use the Food Pyramid Guide to make sure you get enough fruits, vegetables and other important nutrients.

Exercise!

Get away from that television and those video games. Ride your bike, go for a walk or swimming. Play your favorite outdoor sport. Find a friend and have some fun!
