Public Health has evolved over the years to include a much larger focus on Public Health Preparedness. We are more prepared for Public Health disasters than we have ever been before. However, there is more work to do.

Employees at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health work with many community partrners all year to prepare our staff and our residents for various emergencies. We plan for floods, tornados or disease outbreaks, such as mumps, pertussis or seasonal influenza and even pandemic influenza. Today, we also plan for man-made emergencies such as a bioterrorism event.
