Organizational Development & Research Kara Vogelson

Organizational Development and Research provides a large amount of behind-the-scenes work for staff members to provide effective programs and services at the Department of Public Health. Our work includes strategic planning, community-based planning, organizational development, data collection, program creation, grant writing, and program evaluation.

My name is Kara Vogelson and I have been working at the Department since 2002 in various roles. This has allowed me to gain insight into multiple Departmental programs and within the community. My education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Northern Iowa and I am in the process of earning a Master of Health Care Administration degree from Des Moines University.

In Organizational Development and Research, we strive to promote community health and development of health improvement strategies by connecting people, ideas, and resources. Analyzing community health issues allows us to decide where to start an intervention, determine who can benefit, identify target audiences, and evaluate the outcome. Additionally, Organizational Development and Research assists in making purposeful Department programming and staff choices to create its future. Together, we build a healthier future for our county residents.
