Cerro
Gordo County Board of Health
Members
of the Board of Health are appointed by the Cerro
Gordo County Board of Supervisors. The five board members
volunteer to serve a three-year term. The board meets
at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health
office, which is located at 22 N. Georgia Ave., Suite
300, in the Mohawk Square building, Mason City, Iowa.

Chairman

Mark
Johnson, M.D., Chairman, has served as chairman of the Cerro
Gordo County Board of Health since 1987. He is an internist with
Mason City Clinic and a resident of Mason City. Mark is a charter
member of the Hospice of North Iowa Board of Directors and also
serves as the medical director. Mark is married and has two children.
His interests include photography, music and deep sea fishing.
His term expires 12-31-10.
Candi
Schickel, Vice-Chair, is an attorney whose primary area of
practice is mental health law, representing those who are being
committed for mental illness and substance abuse. Prior to attending
law school, Candi was a psychiatric nurse for five years in Iowa
City. Candi's
interests include family activities, crossword puzzles, movies,
walking and camping. She is married and has three children. Her
term expires 12-31-10.
Patricia O'Brien Galasso is a resident of Clear Lake. She serves as a business facilitator and trainer to new and existing businesses. Pat and her husband, Gene, are the founders and co-owners of Ge-Jo's by the Lake, an Italian restaurant located in Clear Lake since 1991. Pat is interested in community service and mentoring young people. In addition to serving on the Board of Health, Pat serves on the North Iowa Pappajohn Business and Entrepreneurial Center's Advisory Board. Her term expires 12-31-12.
Phil
Dougherty is a farmer from Dougherty who was elected to the
Board of Supervisors in November, 2000. He is a liaison between
the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors and the Board of Health.
Dougherty is married and has one daughter. He is a member of the
Cerro Gordo County Mental Health Board and the North Iowa Council
of Governments as well as other boards. Phil enjoys being outdoors
and spending time with family and friends. His term expires 12-31-12.
Barb Kellogg is a resident of Mason City who is the Associate Director of Planning and Development for North Iowa Community Action Organization. She has more than 25 years of experience in the administration of state and federal grants that specifically address the needs of low-income children and families. She is a graduate of UNI with a BA in English and is a member of the NIACC Alumni Association Board of Directors. Barb is a United Way volunteer, a member of the Executive Committees for both the Mason City Youth Task Force and the North Central Iowa Regional Health Planning Coalition and is an active member of FutureNet (Iowa's Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Coalition). She currently serves as Chair of the Mason City Housing Authority Board and is past-president of both the Iowa Community Action Planners and the Iowa Family Development Association. Barb loves reading and spending time with her granddaughter. Her term expires 12-31-11.
