6th Grade
Tobacco Education
The Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health provides a
school-based program for 6th grade students in Cerro Gordo County
schools. The program stresses social influences, short-term effects
of smoking, identifying anti-drugs, and refusal skills in preventing
the initiation of tobacco use. Community partnerships have been
formed to promote a wide range of activities that discourage tobacco
use and support smoke-free environments.
Our
health promotion and education service manager, Tammy Bryant,
visits each 6th grade class in Cerro Gordo County once a year
with this interactive and exciting two-day curriculum. Bryant
is also the coordinator of the Partnership for a Tobacco Free
Cerro Gordo County coalition. Read about the coalition in this
brochure.
