Great American Smokeout 2008
JEL students from all over Cerro Gordo County gathered at North Iowa Area Community College to ecourage all smokers to kick. What better day to quit than on the Great American Smokeout? There were many educational displays and hands-on activities for visitors.

This "Target" tarp represents the many ways the tobacco companies target young people. It's an interactive, visual aid used by JEL students all over Iowa.

NIACC nursing students were on hand to offer free bloods pressure
screenings.
Smoking can influence a person's blood pressure.

Participants wrote on this "Wishing Wall" to share their wish for the Great American
Smokeout. It gave people an opportunity to share how tobacco has affected their life
or the life of someone they care about.

The "Target Tarp" was also displayed in the main lobby at Mason City
High School, capturing the attention of students and staff.
