Port Wellness Port Wellness was a wellness program designed for middle school students in Mason City, Iowa. It was designed to be a free, optional wellness program for students at two public middle schools in the Mason City Community School District.
Port Wellness was coordinated by the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health. This project was supported by funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through the “Building Healthy Communities in Iowa” through Harkin Wellness Grants, administered by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Office for Healthy Communities.
Funding for our program has now ended.
We encourage other organizations to create their own Port Wellness program, or similar program. We have compiled a complete "how to" manual that you can use as a step-by-step guide to create your own youth wellness program.
The manual is 361 pages long and takes several minutes to download with highspeed internet. If you have dial-up internet, it could take several hours.
Other community organizations and agencies are welcome to use the fitness equipment we have accumulated during our program. Get the details aboute this wonderful Community Chest.
