Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) AIDS/HIV

The Medicaid HCBS AIDS/HIV program assists with a variety of medically necessary services in addition to those already available under Iowa=s regular Medicaid program. These services may enable you to be cared for at home when you regularly need assistance from another person.

  • Counseling
  • Home health aide services - in addition to regular Medicaid
  • Homemaker service
  • Nursing care in addition to regular Medicaid
  • Respite care
  • Home delivered meals

To participate in the Medicaid HCBS AIDS/HIV program, you must qualify for Medicaid. To find out if you meet financial eligibility requirements and to apply for assistance, contact your local county Department of Human Services (DHS), Monday through Friday, during regular business hours. Local DHS offices are listed in your telephone directory with other county government offices.

Even if you are not financially eligible for the Medicaid HCBS AIDS/HIV program, you still may be eligible for other assistance programs.

Financial Aid - Medicaid (XIX) Contact your local DHS office and ask to talk with an income maintenance worker.
