Offers Food Safety Course: ServSafe |
|
The
North Central Iowa Regional Inspection Division offers a ServSafe
Certification course several times a year.
The
purpose of the one-day course is to educate restaurant owners,
supervisors, managers and employees about the dangers of foodborne
illnesses and how to avoid them.
The
class, administered through the Cerro Gordo County Department
of Public Health, was created by the National Restaurant Association
and is available to the general public. Classes are held in Mohawk
Square, 22 N. Georgia Ave., downtown Mason City.
Since
the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health began offering
ServSafe in April, 1998, about 600 people have completed the course
and are now certified.
The
course focuses on the food service leader's role in measuring risks,
setting policies and training and supervising employees. Those
who complete the course receive a course book, employee study
guides, leader's guide and other teaching aids. Those who successfully
complete the course and examination receive a certificate.
The
cost of the course is $150 per student.
If
you have questions about upcoming ServSafe courses or would like
